Latest X posts - different approach.
 

I am migrating to VB 3.6.7 from an Ikonboard forum. Ikonboard has a utility called "Tiker" that will export post information to an HTML template each time a post is made. That HTML template is then included on non-forum pages as a server side include.

I have spent many hours reading through and trying all of the "Latest X" mods on the forum, but hoping someone can point me in the right direction to get started on adding the above functionality. I prefer this approach because:

1. Seems like it would be much less server intenstive to only update the lists of recent posts when someone actually makes a post vs all the PHP/Javascript utilities I have seen that constantly go and pull them from VB.

2. Users who have Javascript turned off have no problem seeing the results from an SSI on a static HTML page.

Anyone seen anything like this or can point me in the right direction to getting started? I am thinking there much be a hook that I can tap into each time a post is made to open up the file and do this myself.
