http://www.MadeByMary.com

This is the Latest Full Unrestricted Commercial version.
There is NO time limit in use.
I'm giving it out for free as I'll include it
in my upcoming module vbClubs

For Support on installation problems only
(but NOT for template modifications)
please visit my site.

1. vbPhotoVote Highlights
  • Ability to rate specific photos only.
  • Double vote not allowed, but user can edit his rating
  • User can skip photos that he don't want to vote.
  • User is seeing only photos that he hasn't vote before.
  • Search by User, Location, Keywords
  • Discussion thread for each photo.
  • Email link to a friend.
  • Report photo as illegal to admin.
  • Many configurations per usergroup so you can easily charge users.
2.- Not only one but three(3) ways to rate!

As I know, all similar scripts in the market works on the same way. A user must rate one by one the photos and some of them they've the ability to rate by category but again one by one. With vbPhotoVote you can rate photos with one of the following ways:
  • All photos one by one. But you'll never see again a photo that you've already rated!
  • All photos, one by one, on selecting category. But again only the photos that you haven't rated before.
  • Selected photos only, from the listing results after a search.
3.- vbPhotoVote is Smart!
  • While it prevents multiple votes by the same user, it gives the ability to any user who has changed his mind about a vote that already did, to correct it. If a user search for this photo he can rate it again, but the only that it counts is the difference in points between 1st and 2nd vote. The total votes are not increase.
  • On every page there are blocks with last 5 photos and top 5 photos. The contain of these blocks are according to the place that you're. In the main page shows from all categories. In a category listing limits them in the specific category. In Member area show user's top 5 and last 5!!
4.- Why your Members will love it!

Along with it's many features, your members will love it as they can see many statistical details for all their photos in one place. eg: How many votes has each of their photos, what's their position in stream in the same category, or among all photos. Also there they can edit or delete a photo, read reviews, get the link.

5.- Admin's Features
  • Can setup module's options
  • Can Manage Photos (Approve, Edit, Reject)
  • Can Add/Edit/Delete Categories
  • Can Manage Reported Photos
  • Can Rebuild Counters
6.- vbPhotoVote Options
  • Photo Approval On/Off
  • Photo Width
  • Thumbnail Width
  • Email Template for Photo's Approval
  • Email Template for Photo's Rejection
  • Photos per Row (for listing)
  • Photos per Page (for listing)
  • Commenting System On/Off
  • Forum to use for Comments
  • Width of Left Column
  • Width of Right Column
  • Font Size for Menus
7.- Usergroup Permissions
  • Can use vbPhotoVote?
  • Can Add/Edit/Delete own Photo?
  • Can Rate Photos?
  • Can Comment Photos?
  • Can Send Messages?
  • Can Search Photos?
  • Can Moderate?
8.- Installation
  • Upload the entire /vbphotovote directory to your webserver UNDER the folder where
your vBulletin is installed. eg if your vb installation is located at:
http://www.yourdomain.com/forums then the /vbmates directory must be under this (/forums).
  • Upload vbphotovote.php at your forum directory (!!NOT!! in vbphotovote directory).
  • Upload the file /admicp/vbphotovote_admin.php to your /admincp directory
  • Upload the files in /includes/xml/*.* to your /includes/xml/
  • CMOD the following directoris to 777
    /photos (inside vbphotovote directory)

  • Check at your AdminCP->vBulletin Options->Plugin/Hook System that Plugin system
    is enabled.
  • From your AdminCP->Plugin System->Manage Products choose Add/Import Product and import the product: product_vbphotovote.xml
  • From your adminCP from "Forum & Moderators->Forum Manager" choose "Add New Forum". This will be used for Reviews. It's better to use the default form and not
copying another forum. The points that need attention are: Parent forum : No one, Display Order : 0 !!!! (To hide forum from listings)
  • If you want to add a link to your nav bar then you must edit the NAVBAR template:
    Search For:
Code:

<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="calendar.php$session[sessionurl_q]">$vbphrase[calendar]</a></td>
Add Below:
Code:

<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="vbphotovote.php$session[sessionurl_q]">Photo Rating</a></td>
  • By default none usergroup has permissions to use vbPhotoVote, so you need to give
permissions to any group. Goto AdminCP->Usergroups->Usergroup Manager and edit any usergroup you like to give permissions.

Same here! I also paid for it, will I get the brandfree version? What is the difference zto earlier versions?

I think that it was better before posting any complain, to wait for my announcment at my site. In any case, here are some parts:

I don't think that my action to give for free something that others have paid for it is unfair. Unfair should be if:
  1. after placing it here, I was continue selling it in my site, so members who didn't seen it, will pay for it. But as you can chack, I've disable selling this product (vbMates too).
  2. If I was giving support (except installation issues) to Free installation
Some months ago, I bought PhpCow at $485. Next month the price droped at $99. I never said that they acted unfair. I just said that I had no luck. I accepted their right to do anything with their software, even to give it for free.

In any case. Current (Paid) owners of vbPhotoVote:
  1. Will be the only one that we'll get support
  2. They can use it Brand Free to as many installations they want.
  3. In case that they'll buy vbClubs, the full amount that they've paid will be subtruck from vbClubs price.

Announcement should have been made before posting on vbulletin.org imho.
I do not exactly have a problem with making this script free. I have a problem with making it free and switching over to development of another, better product which will include this script, meaning that this script, the one that I paid for will most likely not receive any updates any time soon.

vbPhotoVote and vbMates are completed products and there was no any plan for update. The only update that they will have (which of course will be free for paid owners) is to be vbSEO compatible.

This is quite shocking to be honest.
I though hacks are suppose to be improved and updated with features? Especially paid ones? It was nowhere stated that this is a so called "finished product" and that no update will be made.
There is hundreds of problems I have encountered in just one day of using vbphotovote, lack of many "MUST HAVE" features such as ability for moderators to approve photos is one of them.
There is no way I would call this a completed product, it is faaaaaaar, faaar away from being completed.

Instead to shout like "faaaaaar" etc spend sometime to explore the mod. Who told you that Admin can't approve photos? Please before post any complain, just check the mod. vbPhotoVote was released at November 2006 and since then has five(5) upgrades wilth A-L-L suggestions that users have post. I'm not talking for upgrades for bug fixes, but for major upgrades with new features.

It's more than 3 months now that nobody suggested anything. So, what to improve? Have you any really useful suggestion? If yes, post it.

can this be integrated into photopost? or does it include the gallery? or am I misreading it.

Paul M 06-13-2007 01:46 PM

If the author of this product has decided to release it for free then that's their decision and no one elses, we welcome the decision to release this product here for free.

If you decided to pay for it in the past then that was your choice at the time, it really is no different to buying something and then finding it on sale at a discount the next day - bad luck on your part, nothing more. Any more such complaints /off topic posts will be removed.

I just came to say: WOOOW! [lol]

Now I have to go, when I return, surely will install ;)

Edited: Well, I saw the thread and I am willing to pay, it's a great product... now bye :P
