Word Replacement / Censor
I was poking around a friend of mine's phpBB board, and I saw that by default the word censor is actually a word replacement system. Is there anything available like this for vBull (v3.6.7)? I saw this one - but it seems a little too cumbersome, and not as user friendly as it could be.

why dont you use the vb built in one?

Yes word replacement implimented in certian threads would be nice to have instead of the ****'s in it's place, as I don't want global censor either.
|
no, use the replacement variables...
Go to Style Manager, drop down to replacement vars. |

Hi,
I have the exact same problem here. Let me explain more about my issue. I want to use the censorship as a kind of "forced spell check", so words that are commonly spelled wrong would be replaced by its correct version. On Invision Power Board (IPB) I used its censorship module to do that. On vBulletin, however, the censorship module doesn't allow me to replace words with a configurable word, only to replace bad words with *. Using replacement vars as suggested above is a pain, because we have four skins installed, so we would need to configure all words for our fours styles. Too much trouble. I searched for spell check modules, but the problem is that (1) they are based on add-on software based on the English dictionary (our forums aren't in English); (2) the spell check function is used only if the user click on the Spell Check icon that the mod/hack installs. So there is no way to force the spell check to be used. I want a mod/hack that would provide me a table where I could enter the word I want to replace and the new word. That's all. Any suggestions? I am not a programmer myself so even though I have this need and idea, I don't know how to code this. Thanks, Gabriel. |
Create a style, place your four styles under it, add vars to parent style
BINGO! |
Well - on my board, some of the sub-forums are game/gag/joke forums. Sometimes we mess with the people using the [you] tag in those sub-forums.
I'd like to do something with a word-replacement gag, so that it does things like replace "the" with "teh" and other silly things like that. |
It seems harmor19 developed this!
