On vJoomla I hit the current upper limit on filesize - 2.0 MB. Joomla's files take up 2.6 MB in all. I have currently resorted to splitting the downloads up into 2 files, but for the convenience of the users is it possible to get the filesize limit upped to, say 4 MB?

You will just have to split it into two files, the current limits are fine for 99%+ mods so I can't see a compelling reason to double them.
