how do I get rid of .com./forums/index the dot after the .com???

If you can get into your Admin CP go to vBulletin Options -- > Site Name / URL / Contact Details
Check if there is a dot after "com".

Has the dot always been there since you got the domain? If so you need to contact your host and see if they made a mistake.
