Limit the scope of the quicksearch drop down bar?

I've search and searched and I cant find a solution to this seemingly simple mod. When you click on search and dropdown appears, that will by default search the entire set of forums for results. Is there a way to limit it so that it will only search forumid 1,2,3,5,8 for example...
