Using Template Comparison Feature in ACP

Ok at the risk of making myself look stoooopid.....

I've never used this template comparison thingamajigger, so now that I have to, I find it to be damn confusing! http://www.vbulletin-faq.com/forum/i...s/confused.gif I don't want to revert my templates because there are too many changes to re-apply. So, I'm doing them manually.

Someone walk me through this, please?!?

Here is my problem -

PINK: The text in pink is the text removed from the old version (it says). SO, does this mean it needs to be removed from MY version as well?

YELLOW: Text changed between versions. So??? I take it that if I don't simply revert, then I need to change this in my version as well, correct?

GREEN: Text added to new version. Again, if I don't simply revert, I have to add this to my version, correct?

Do I have it right, or am I way off-base? WHY can't they make these things easy?? :(

what I do is save the old template to a text file then I revert them and once I see both templates I edit them in beyond compare and its much easier. This way if anything looks messed up then you have a backup of the old one before your revert.

Thanks DM.

Kier actually posted in the 3.6.7 release thread, the exact changes they made in the Forumhome and navbar templates. That made it SOOOO easy to apply those changes manually rather than have to use that compare thingee, or the revert and re-apply edits method.
I wish they would/could do that with all of the major changes :)

no problem at all. yeah I seen that to (I used it also ;))and it is much easier to do it that way but we cant always get what we want but hopefully they continue to do it that way.
