Just A Couple of Questions
I posted this on vBulletin.com and no one has touched it so I'm guessing no one knows.
I'm running 3.6.7 on Windows XP Pro... I've looked through the documentation and the Forums and haven't found an answer to these questions, so here goes. 1. Exactly what are the cookies doing that vBulletin uses? I'm okay with the settings I just want to know what information is being collected from my visitors and is it of any use to me. 2. I don't operate a commercial Web site or an online service directed to children under 13 but they could easily register. I have COPPA disabled, COPPA registration system cookie check is marked YES, and I DON"T moderate new members. Are there any recommended settings just to stay on the safe side of COPPA or do I even need to worry about it? Thanks! |
im not sure on the cookies part lol, but i had no problems. the coppa users i wouldnt worry to much about, if a member really wanted to join they would lie about there age anyway so really there isn't much you can do about it. theres worse things on the net for kids to access other than your site easy enough. if there parents really cared they would supervise there kids while using there cp but lots dont. i think there is over 20 members on my site that are under 13 but i cant prove it so theres not much i can do about it. i think if you are worried about this, long as you have something wrote that its for 13 years and over you should be right no worrys. sorry if this is no help to you but thought i'd have me say lol.
cheers. |
What do the cookies do? They keep users logged in of course and also keep last visited information.

Is there any way to see the data on the cookie or is it of any use to me?
Thanks!! |
Cookies are stored on the user's local computer, not on the server. Do you even know what a cookie is?
