Are there any hacks yet for allowing discussion via e-mail and vB?
My personal opinion is to use vB for everything. Apparently, though, a lot of my colleagues think that a mailing list, like majordomo or listserv, is way better. We could resolve these two by allowing both systems, although I would like it to be vB-centric. For example: To receive all threads from a forum, just subscribe to the list. Every time a post is posted, the data is forwarded to all users who are on the full mailing list for that forum. They would be marked "[Forum Name] Subject: Post X" or something. To send a post, send a message to: forumname@domain.com A hack would intercept the message and parse the body: Username: [Username] Password: [Password in plaintext or an encrypted format], OR use digital certificates (might be too much trouble) [Insert body here] |
There might have been something as a result of this thread:

That hack is still very much in the development stages, and I would not expect a hack like that for a while, at the very least until vB2 Gold has been released.
