Images Stored in Database/File system?
 

I thought I saw a setting where you could choose where images were stored, whether in the Dbase or in the file system. My database is getting big, and backing it up is taking a while and a lot of space. Is this a setting, could it be hacked, is it a bad idea?

you have to activate Debug Mode to access the specific panel in your vBulletin Options...

open your config.php file, and type this at the end:

above the ?> , add this:

if (VB_AREA == 'AdminCP') $config['Misc']['debug'] = TRUE;

Um, I thought what he was asking was how to put the attachments into the file system, not the database. If that was the question, you can change it in your Admin CP > Attachments > Attachment Storage Type . Change it to the File System. Make sure the the folder you are choosing to move them to is NOT in your root folder (usually the public_html folder) and make sure you chmod the folder to 777. After you've done that, you can select to move your attachments to the file system. (You can do the same for avatars also.)
