Top recommended tips, tweaks, and mods
 

Hi folks,

Brand new vbulletin owner here and am looking forward to getting my board up and running and converting from web wiz forums.

I'm finding that it's easy to be overwhelmed by all the various functionality and ways to tweak or mod the board. So one might recommend to just go live with the default 'stuff' and then tweak or change as I learn more, however, I don't want it to be too basic/generic, because I don't want my members to be disappointed. I'd like to "go live" with not only a better performing board, but a couple new goodies.

Can you veterans post your recommendations for "must have" settings or tips or tweaks or mods? Something you'd recommend I consider right out of the gates? (Or conversely, things you'd recommend I stay away from early on?)

- profile enhancements?
- award systems?
- news bots?

I'm also particularly interested in anything that really enhances the user experience from an ease of navigation standpoint. And I don't want anything that will slow performance, so if there are any "performance draining" mods to stay away from, let me know.

Well first i would say get Shoutbox,the users been on today,guests in last 24hours,and install the spider mod to see what spiders are on your forum :):) oh yeh and vbadvanced
