More welcome messages by PM
 

There's a mod that automatically sends a PM to new members when they join your forum. Maybe that's even part of the standard VB now, I can't remember.

But what about sending more than one PM? I'd like a mod that sends a friendly welcome message *and* a guide to using the forum (as separate messages) and I'd like to send a follow-up welcome message the day/week after they join.

Would anyone else find that useful? Can anyone code it?

This is something I'm also after. This would allow you to do say four different PMs to new users over a period of four weeks.

Yeah, I think it would be very useful.

Probably simple to code too - a scheduled event?

For vb3.5 It might be a simple task of making a copy of the 'send PM to new user' mod code and changing it slightly to add '7 days after confirming account' to the 'when to send PM' variable. Change filenames where necessary to differentiate between the 'send PM to new user' mod and the new 'send PM to new user after 7 days'. It might be as straightforward as that / maybe not - I'm not a coder... just applying some logic to the situation.
