Can it be done? 2 different types of registrations.
Ok, let me explain a bit.
I am looking to make a website that will have 2 types of users. Let's call them User Type A and B. I want to be able to have users register as either A or B, which means I would need 2 databases for usernames and be able to have 2 different Register pages. Anyway I asked on the main site and they said that's impossible under the default installation. I am wondering if this would be a hard job to do or if there is one done already. Any help would be appreciated, thanks. Anyone? |
Please explain a bit more why you want 2 databases?
What are you trying to achieve? |
That does sound odd and like you are trying to over complicate matters. I don't really see why you would need two databases just to hold two groups of users.
vB already comes with a very extensive user group system. Could you not just allow members to select between two different secondary groups to join when they register? That way it would split them into one of the groups or the other and you could assign the permissions within these two secondary groups that would affect what each group could see and do on the site. |
I think a good example of what he is saying say for example you created a new registration page and had these options
1. Become a paid member and enjoy these benefits then click here 2. join for free basic membership and click here once they decide on where they are going and which form they joined certain permissions would b applied to there account depending on there selection. |
Maybe we should just wait and see what he means instead of speculating. ;)

That was an example of how I want to apply this... to my site.... possible?
