Mark As Installed to become Subscriptions

Instead of Installs, we would have Subscriptions.

A user would click "Subscribe for Updates" and it would be included in the subscriptions count.

This would be a better way to keep a install count, it would be more precise, and it would remove the feeling that the current Install count is the exact number of people that installed your mod.

There are no plans to change the current system.

Ok, I won't be giving you feedback anymore

Get used to that :) The .org has some very, very entrenched ideas. It only changes slowly, if at all, and often at the point of a gun of one sort of another ;)

While anyone is free to make suggestions, that doesn't mean they are going to happen.

We all have real lives and a limited amount of time to spend on vb.org projects - the installs system may not be perfect, but it does the job and has stood the test of time well - so no, there are no plans to change it. I'm sorry if some people cannot handle being told this, but that's how it is.

It was a suggestion, not a demand. You didn't have to reply at all. You shot a feedback discussion.

Until they get an awesome suggestion i guess would be better?

Mod developers have been complaining about "click to install" for as long as I've been here. And the staff has been refusing to listen for just as long. Even developers who become staff stop listening on this subject, so clearly the entrenched staff most feel strongly enough about it that you need to agree to survive with them. Or, perhaps they just discuss things in private and some staff has to bite their tongue in public and defend the decisions, even if they don't agree. Providing a unified front is good I guess.

My point, this is a hot topic, and change on it will someday happen. Another hot topic used to be titles, and the staff was just as stick in the mud about changing that. In the end they did though, and now we're all just 'coder' and/or 'designer'.

They will see the light on this, eventually. Probably when some of the old staff retires.

What I would think would work even better, make the download link combined with the mark as installed link, this way it automatically updates the number of installs and also provides subscribed updates.

Who said it was a demand then ?

True, I could have just ignored it, knowing full well that no changes are planned - but then of course you would start to moan that the staff are ignoring you (see below). I opted to inform you.

That's so far off being true it's almost funny. Who are these "old" staff exactly ?
