How to remove thread titles in existing replies?
 

Hello there,

One feature that always annoyed me in vBulletin was that the thread title was automatically inserted with a "Re:" in every reply posting. I think it was pointless and visually unpleasant, and hardly anybody ever used the title field to enter something specific in their replies.

Now I finally found out how to disable this feature in Admin CP. However, I would also like to remove all thread titles in existing thread replies (not for the initial thread postings of course) to clean up and unify the look of the forum.

How can this be done on a technical level?

The following query will probably work, but is not tested:

[sql]UPDATE `post` AS p
LEFT JOIN thread AS t on (p.postid = t.firstpostid)
SET p.title = ""
WHERE t.firstpostid IS NULL[/sql]

Make sure to have a recent backup before running manual queries.
