Upgradng vbb frustration!!

I'm still on vbb 3.5.4 I have downloaded 3.6.4 and uploaded to my server using SmartFTP (which I DO NOT like) and it wont upgrade. Been trying for months. I asked on the vbulletin message board and really havent gotten an answer. Is there a better free service than SmartFTP for uploading? Also when I go to my upgrade.php page it will only give me 4 steps to upgrade (I think this is where the problem is, for some reason its not recognizing the 3.6.4 upgrade) where as I thought I read that 3.6.4 will have like 7 or more steps. And lastly, I am new here, the search function is overwhelming, where can I find a link to download vbAdvanced CPMS for either 3.5.4 or 3.6.4 (if I can ever get it upgraded). That is all. I'm sure I will be back to ask about adding an arcade and other quick links, I will definitely be downloading the NoSpam! hack! My site, if your into Dodge trucks, LOL http://devilbrad.com/index.php

you can try CuteFTP... and as for your errors, i think there are about 13 steps for an upgrade. would have to no more details in order to help more. have you submitted a trouble-ticket at vb.com?

I use FileZilla for all my FTP uses, or my cPanel. Either one does the trick for me :)

You can use WinSCP. Google it =)

Be sure you set the port for 15554 and SFTP you may have to ask your host to allow your access.

As for your Upgrade - what I did was download 3.5.5 ran the upgrade then stepped it up each version to 3.6.0 then upgraded straight to 3.6.5.

Thanks guys! I tried Leech FTP to no avail. I think I know where my problem is, but am not gonna say anythign till this is done uploading, LOL

I figured it out! I cant believe how stupid I am, he he. The vbb manual was telling me this:

Quote:

Note:
As you already have a vBulletin installation running on your web server, you should delete the install.php file in the install directory before you proceed to upload the files.
and I was deleting the install.php file from the new upload, not from my server. D'oh!!! Us car guys are dumb sometimes!!!!!!
