vb CMPS selectable content

Im tired of mixing in important server announcements ect, with homepage announcements. Could someone code up a hack that allows a user to select different "feeds" for what they want to be displayed on the homepage.

For example:
The default will be site news/updates ect but a user can manaully select it so they see intresting news/threads on the homepage.
