I was just browsing through mods, when I saw something different. I just noticed you can set the version to 3.6.x :p.

Yes, a large number will run on any version of 3.6, so you can choose that option rather than a specific version.

Would it be doable to have 3.5.x/3.6.x? Or 3.5.x+? Although I suppose the limitations in not being able to span threads across multiple forums puts a slight dampener on that.
