Don't you just hate if...

Your working on a request and they say
"blah blah PM for more details"
and after chatting with them either by IM or PM for a hour they say
"I can't give out admincp or FTP login details sorry"
Yet you NEED it to either do or solve whatever

or

They give you a project to do and they require you to do this and this and this to prove to them you can do it... or to do the whole project and take screen shots or something. Even working with it on their site, and then he has found another person to do it thats already completed or is better.

or

They really suck at english and there is a misunderstanding somewhere and they refuse to pay anything and you've wasted all your time

Yeah man, that really sucks. I can't tell you how many times thats happened to me. If you want to get something working or fixed, why are you not willing to give us admincp/ftp details so we can help? It makes no sense. We can't help you if we can't see what the problem is. We can't add or customize features if we don't do it directly on your site, and most of the time, we can't exactly TELL you how to do the things we do. ESPECIALLY if your site has already been modified a great deal, it makes things a little harder.

I guess this might be why I don't get a whole lot of projects from here...but I do get some...and the ones I get are usually pretty decent...

-If it's over $50...i require down payment (usually 25-50% depending on total price)
-If I can't understand you...I'm not working for you
-I mention the ACP and FTP usually in the beginning of the convo whether I need it or not...if they say no...i go on my way
-I take paypal...nothing else...if they don't have paypal...i go on my way
-If it's over $500 we sign a contract...no contract...i go on my way
-before i start, i list EXACTLY what i'm going to do according to them...and they will then reply that that is correct...then I start...so if they say i did something wrong...i can simply refer them back to that message...
-and probably most importantly...if they want me to do the work on THEIR site...then they PAY IN FULL before I start (or we agree on an escrow service...though i will charge a little more to cover my fee for this)

as I said...it makes it a little more difficult to get clients from here...but the ones i do get are quality clients and fun to work with

That is why I never use messenger... I lose so many clients this way but e-mail is the only way I do anything. It makes things quick and it leaves a record for you to go back too...

I don't know how many times I hear this. They want a custom skin, yet they have no idea what they want it to look like...

You need to be more patient with clients.Most of them are complete retards but oh well there it goes...at least it's worth the money

I doubt that calling your client base "retards" on a public forum that they all read is very good business practice.
