help with link spam
 

Hi,

Ive got two successful forums, both pr 5's which are attracting an incredible amount of link spam.

Between myself and my moderators, we spend so much of our time just removing threads

I saw on one vb forum, i was not allowed to post links till 15 posts, and this included links in my sig.

Is this possible to do with my vbulletin boards, without getting some hack or other script?

if anyone knows how i can do this with my boards, It would be greatly appreciated.

I was directed to this forum, I have searched it, though not been able to find the appropriate threads.

Possible, yes. I use this: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...t=Prevent+Spam I don't worry so much with blocking keywords as I do [url] and [email] tags.

Without getting some hack... I have not looked that far. I assume you could look at usergroup permissions... You can restrict the use of bb code in sigs and moderate new user's posts. Granted that would be a lot of additional and unnecessary work.

The Akismet spam system ported to vbulletin works amazing, couple it with the moderation queue on the forum home and a little bit of user group shuffling and you shouldn't see any spam. I get registers all the time, but I havent had one successful link post in almost 6 months.
