Bring back the name change policy

I think it's pretty much stupid to have a policy regarding name changes, don't you think? I mean come on, I'm sure every one of you out there would like to have a name change, but since the former admins of vB.org are no longer a staff and the new admins have taken over the site now, I think they are being unfair here. How can you just ban the ability of changing names on this site, huh? Is that a serious problem to you? No, I don't think so. vB.com still allow name changes so I don't see why we can't have the name changing policy back. No offense to y'all staff but I think this is the worst and most stupidest idea I have ever heard. I haven't seen a site, not even one, that do not allow name changes.

Suppose if you had an ugly real name in which you never ever liked it and WISH to change it. Wouldn't you ask your parents for a name change or something? I'm sure you would ask them and have the name that you've allowed wanted or wished for.

Anyway, as for now, bring the damn name change policy back!

Hah. The words of someone who has never run a large forum if I'm any judge. ;)

vB.com is a little different, they're paid to deal with things like that.

i think it's a good policy here... only because of all the rogue deadbeat coders that steal from newbies and users that don't check references and stickys. anywhere else, i'm open to name changes... but not here.

Snake your post only shows that you jump to conclusions without knowing what you are talking about. And no, this got nothing to do with former administrators, and no we do not have any plans to change this policy.

@GearTripper
You are for sure thinking in the right direction.

PS If someone has a very good reason (at our discretion) then we still do allow for name changes, but that is an exception to the rule.

Snake, your comment look like a "my username is soooo ugly and i'm frustrated i can't change it"...

come on, you can always contact the admins if your life depend on it...

and btw, "vBulletin *the software" does not contain a Name Change feature, and this is for a reason...

Shut up. The same thing goes to you as well. Like you even run a large forum or something.

I'm not jumping to conclusions and you know exactly what the hell I'm talking about.

If someone has a very good reason, you say? Oh come on, I already gave you my reasons to change my name for a billion of times now but you and the self-headed staffers kept denying it about my name change. What do you want exactly from me just to get my name changed, huh? Money? Hoes? Crack? Just name it.

That is exactly what I'm talking about. How do you feel when you're browsing on a site and using a username that you don't even like, huh? Just tell me. I can't really say that I feel comfortable about using a stupid name such as "Snake" on a site, especially when I support its members, create some hacks and stay active as hell, as you can see.

I have already contacted the admins several times ago but it was always a no and yet they say "If you have a good reason(s), then we shall change your username for you" which is a complete and utter lie.

Marco van Herwaarden 03-22-2007 05:05 PM

The fact that you don't like the name that you have choosen yourself anymore, does not count as a "very good reason". Asking it many times does not change that.

PS You have received an infraction for your reply to RedTiger in your post.

Edit, just did a check, you already had a reputation of requesting name changes a lot even back to 2005, where the administrators already put a stop to your requests because you requested multiple changes in a short period.

kall 03-22-2007 05:48 PM

..and, on the last one, you stated the following:

Quote:

Yes sir, I am pretty sure of it. And yes, this will be my very, last username change. :)
So.. yeah. :)

Since his insulting comments got him another infraction (and resulting suspension) there seems little point in leaving this open now. Closed.
