Customize forum layout

I am new to Vbulletin and need to find out how customizable the forum layout is.
I need a forum which allows me to remove some columns from the threads list page.
Is this easy to do with Vbulletin or is it set in stone and difficult to adjust?

depend on what you evaluate as "difficult"... and what "price" you are ready to pay for that... because most of the designers you will encounter will ask to be paid for the jobs...

you can browse my site (siggy) to see what a really-customized style may look like...

I mean more difficult than other open-source forum-based software.
I am a designer who can code php so am looking to customize the software myself.
Obviously if I am paying for a vbulletin license, I would assume (maybe incorrectly) that it would be eaiser to customize than a free alternative, although I can't check this as i cannot access the vbulletin script until i have paid for it.

oh, "that" kind of difficulties...

i can tell, as i worked with most of the existing templates systems possible... phpBB, IPB, Postnuke, etc... and see, i'm a vBulletin developper now.. :) i hate complicated things.

the system parse the content of your templates, so if you write a condition wrong, it will tell you... etc

and the template editor is very efficient... CSS driver is well built too...

Thanks for your feedback nexialys.

Is your experience with phpbb2 or the newer, simpler phpbb3 templating system?

Vbulletin uses a similar template system its where phpbb3 gets it from. The source of vbulletin is readable so u can modify everything to your hearts content. Might be time consuming though.
