vb.org Archive - options will not save

Hi

I have a product that I am building with the aid of various articles found on this site. All seems to working ok with the exception of the custom option created within the forum manager. The option is visible and reports the state found in the db. When the value is changed and saved, everything reports as being good but, on further inspection the value has not changed. No errors are reported?
btw: bitfields are updated.

Any insight as to my errors would be extremely useful as well as any advice on improvement as I am by no means an expert with php.
