HOW do I DO this??? Change 777 Permissions????
 

Ok, so forgive me, I'm really new at this, and I'm sure this has been asked before, but unfortunately, I can't find where...can anyone help me, please?

Step 2a ( CHMOD DIRECTORY ):

• Change the permission for the upload directory to 777.
  Note: The upload direcotry is where your files are going to be uploaded to [in the folder here it's called imagehosting]

What's your FTP software?

Most FTP software will allow you to just right click, and change those permissions in properties, or they have their own chmod option in the drop down when you right click.

I use FileZilla...

My husband and a friend's husband did it, can you give me some examples of what you mean? I know he's used Jarte, and Yahoo SiteBuilder...??? I'm really sorry...I'm a daft woman, i guess...not really, I just don't understand this crap.:rolleyes: :eek:

I need to learn the same thing. Using Core FTP LE. I need to change specific file permissions for uploading games to 777.

When I click properties of the game file I see file permissions at the bottom of a pop-up window with small letters "drwxr-xr-x" and a "value" window with 755 in it. I can change the value window number. Is THIS the permission #?

Ok, when I uploaded this directory folder, I right-clicked, then opened properties, this little window opened about permissions...I typed in 777 and that was it! I couldn't believe I got it!

But, I'm not sure about changing ones that are already set...I'd be afraid to do something like that without knowing what I'm doing.

OH, and it didn't say CHMOD anywhere, so I was totally confused, hence this thread.

THANKS!!! Same idea in Core-changed the number in the box in FTP and everything is uploading great now!!!!!
