Add a Currently Active Users status to top of index page

Can this be done :confused:

I want to add the same "Currently Active Users" display that is shown at the bottom of the forum index in the Whats going on section but require it placed at the top of the page next to my shoutbox.

i saw that once on here... i think it was under the 3.5 format though..
