Changing servers .. However current host has no Telnet/SSH

:) Please the great folks of Vbulletin I want to change my server from Globat ( they have ruined my website and they are awfully slow to run ) to Bluehost.com however Globat doesn't allow Telnet/SSH access to their website.

How do I proceed now ?? What is the next step I take and the checklist from here. Thank you.

Hey folks, is there no one out there who can help me. Does it mean that without Telnet/SSH on my current host that I cannot change servers ?

Please reply !

Hi, do you want transfer all data and files to new server? it?s simple login to your data manager and backup you DB SQL, next download all files to you home computer. When you have a new server go to your new Data manager and upload like your files via FTP. Regards

The only reliable method of backing up and restoring a database is with shell access via telnet or ssh. This is because backing up with a PHP script like that in the Admin CP or phpMyAdmin can result in PHP timeouts errors and an incomplete backup file. Please see the instructions here:

Backup:
http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/m...nce_ssh_backup

Restore:
http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/m...ce_ssh_restore

P.S. If you don't have shell access, some people have also reported success with these scripts:

MySQLDumper:
http://www.mysqldumper.de/en/index.php

MySQLHotxcopy:
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...t=mysqlhotcopy

Bigdump:

If you timeout, another (but very tedious) way is to export your database a table at a time via phpmyadmin. And if the post table timesout, you can export it in segments. I had to do this once for the same reason as the OP.
