Im a former customer of ASO, service is awesome, untill you need professional assistance, which the support team wont help you, unless Tim (ASO's owner) takes the ticket into his own hands.

I left ASO because of that. Support team was a disaster, and a disaster for my business almost every week.

Hmmm... well... I used to run a reseller account with Hostaway before they merged with someone else (can't for the life of me remember the name). The quality of the server was fantastic, but when I had an occassional issue they were nowhere to be found and I would wait over a week to reach someone. I got EXTREMELY fed up with them and canceled my account. I really appreciated the server stats that were available to me too though. It really helped with trouble shooting.

I am a reseller for GoDaddy now. They have their pros and cons. Their customer service has been about 95% phenominal, with the occassional annoying person. They are ALWAYS available to help you and will even give you a personal rep for free. Their user resources are outstanding as well. I love their control panels and features. Very easy to use and understand. Full of user control. I also have to say that their DNS updating has been much faster then a lot of other companies.

My only complaints with GoDaddy is that some times their tech support is a little less educated then desired, but I can always get ahold of someone else who knows better. I have also found that some of their shared servers run great and some of them seriously bog down at which point I really miss those server stats. I have found that they have some limitations to things you can do that other hosts don't and they have been a bit annoying at times.

I don't like Yahoo. Everything I have ever had to do with them has been a pain.

I don't have much more advice except to make SURE whoever you choose has good customer service!! Make sure they have a working phone number that actually has people answering and isn't just a recording! Don't accept email only tech support when it comes to hosting. Trust me on that one!

I WOULD NOT use godaddy for hosting !!

I absolutely hate working on clients sites that use godaddy..

They are great for domains, and horrid for hosting.

www.fluidhosting.com is a good host for servers.

I am just curious... what don't you like about GoDaddy? And what makes FluidHosting better? I am always trying to keep my eyes open for something new and improved!

As a webmaster and programmer, I hate GoDaddy, too. I only ever use them for when I need a cheap domain.

TigerTech.net has phenominal technical support (I've been with them over 3 years now and have over 50 sites hosted through them). They respond quickly to all requests and have gone so far as to debug code I wrote when I thought it was a problem with the server. :o

How big is your forum? I never read a good review for godaddy hosting services by any vB admin.

Ted S 02-24-2007 01:19 AM

Since you posted in the bigboards forum I assume your sit eis fairly large or on it's way to being large. Just what sort of traffic specs are you trying to support here?

AFemaleProdigy 02-24-2007 12:56 PM

Hmm... well I am not sure what you consider to be "big" (what DO you consider big... out of curiosity... I am no vB veteran or anything), but here is my "biggest" one at this time...

Threads: 2,139, Posts: 6,676, Members: 3,424, Active Members: 594 and I think the most ever online at once was something like 125.

We are averaging around 4,000 unique visitors per day and somewhere between 20,000Mb and 44,000Mb of bandwidth per month. So somewhere around 1,000 Mb per day give or take and we aren't having any problems with it.
