I can't get to my forum or my control panel. I keep getting the message "database error". How can i fix this?

Whats the database error you are getting? Letting us know the error would help you out alot more, as well as the version you are running, the mod you installed, the mods you have installed already, etc.

disable hooks by putting this right after <?php in your config.php file in the includes directory, then login and disable the problematic hack.

Code:

define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

It looks like a variable problem. I can get into the admin control panel again, but the forum is still down.

Now that I can get back into the control panel, maybe you can help me fix it?

I had Cyb - Advanced Forum Statistics (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=122986), and ibProArcade for vBulletin (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=170) installed, and I wasn't having any problems. This morning, I installed ionCube, then vS-Interactive Profiles (http://www.visionscripts.com/?page=p...vsproductid=8). I started getting database errors right after that once in a while in the control panel, in one pane or another. Sometimes the whole CP would go down. But closing the browser windoe and starting it back up again would fix it. I didn't get any particular database error by the way, Database Error and some stuff about blicking the back button and trying again was all I got.

I should have stopped there and tried to see what was wrong. I have a very bad cold, feel lousy, and I'm blaming that for my bad judgment!

I installed vBSEO after that. I don't think that caused any more of a problem though.

Then I realized the forum was having problems. It still is. I can now get back into the home page, but when I click on any forum, it tries to open a page in a folder of the forum name. Click on the General Discussion forum, and it tries to open the default page in the (non-existent) General-Discussion folder.

I then tried to disable vS-Interactive Profiles. I had more problems with the database error. I tried to uninstall it and started getting the database error whenever i tried anything to do with vbulletin.

What should I do now? Should I continue to try to uninstall vS-Interactive Profiles? Should I try to repair the database? I should do a database backup, but don't know how.

What are the database errors, can you copy paste them here? What the url to your site?

dschips 02-13-2007 10:39 PM

I'm not getting any now, the CP is working. The error said sinple database error, in a stylized way, not like what I would expect. There was no error number or code or description. If I get it again, I'll post it.

The forum is having a different sort of error, the forum links have gone bizarre.

The site is http://www.writeaprisoner.com/vbforum/

You will have to check the email in which you have the DB errors sent to to see the actual errors.

Or just "view source" on the page you are getting the errors. Here is the database error you are having....

Database error in vBulletin :

Thank you. I gather you managed to get get the same error.

So what do I do now? I have two errors that are different, but probably related.

1) what happened to the forum links and how do I fix them?

2) What do I do about the database errors?

Diane

The database error is intermittent, but my entire forum is down until I can get the forum links fixed. What do I do to fix them?
