limit access to vip
 

would like to set up a vip user group and during heavy server loads only allow this group access to the site. how would i do this?

There used to be a hack for an older vb version that let you limit the board to registered users during high server loads - I'm sure you could tweak the usergroups to the ones you want if it still works on the vb version your running.

ya i remember one. i am still running 3.5...... i know, i need to upgrade. but i know there is a hack for this i have seen it.

i cant beleive there is no hack for this?

ok, i am thinking i can edit the closed forums code to include a VIP user group since it allows admins access to the site when the froums are closed. where would i find this code. what would its be called?

a little bit of both. i talked with an admin that has this hack running on his forums but he really didnt give me much info on what and where he did the mods. he did mention that area. i was also thinking that i may have to try and use the nix server setting or the sessions limits with the server as well to achive this. does this turn on any light bulbs?
