The Quote Feature when replying to posts/threads

Group,

I am having issues with my members using the Quote featue many hardly ever use the reply button and use the quote button as if they feel like they MUST use it everytime they make a reply. And when they do use the quote button they click on quote and submit it with all the text of the post that they are repling to without even bothering to remove the EXCESS TEXT that they are NOT quoting. I dont mind if they use the quote feature, but I want them to at least quote what the heck they are quoting, not the entire post. Its just adding so much extra text and makes the forums look cluttered and uneccessarily lengthy.

I am using Vbulletin 3.6.4, is there anyway to get the quote feature to maybe add just the quote code without any of the message in between like the quote button in the text editor does and force the user to have to "copy and paste" what they want to quote in between the code?

Or maybe is there a way that I can disable and remove the quote buttons through the admin control panel?

If not, how can I remove the quote button requiring the least amount of code editing or hacking?

Thanks

Doug

Search in templates for quote.gif. That should steer you in the right direction.

I'd rather not limit all users because of what a few dumb ones can't be bothered to do.

Removing IMG tags is needed as well as limiting the amount of text in the quote.

OR, turning off quotes altogether just for SOME users.

dcpaq2,

This link may or may not be what you're after:

Actually I found something I think is a little better but am having a little trouble with a code conflict between the two different hacks.

Please see post numbers 35 and 36 for further information.

If anyone can help with this your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much

Doug
