Hook to format text?

Hello! I have made some formatting things myself. And I have hooked them to 'bbcode_parse_complete'. So I am working on the $text variable which will be returned just after the hook.. I made my own preg_replace('blah',"somefunction($1)") and it works well.. However, very often when people look at a thread with this parsing, it won't parse.. No errors, just no parse.. What can be causing this? Look here:

Notice that when pressing reply, everything will be parsed..
