How about a modification where one can choose how many posts in a thread they want to show to guests, maybe even have it as a per forum setting... you show so many posts, say three and then if there are more posts in the thread, include a message at the bottom inviting guests to register to read more?

Any interest in this, I know there are similar ones out there where guests can view thread titles but not threads etc, does anything like this exist?
