Using vboptions in Cron Jobs?

Is it possible to use settings from within cronjobs? (eg. $vbulletin->options['something'])? There seems to be a problem whenever I am working with them whereby they will not return any results unless I run the cron job directly from the admincp. Does anyone have some insight and/or a workaround for this problem?
