How often are your forums down?
 

I am talking about host problems. How often is your whole site down because of your host's problems?

We have a server from ylabs.de and seems like our forums are down at least few minutes every week (sometimes longer). Several reasons, sometimes "server change", sometimes "mysql problem", "update".. etc.. the list goes on.

Is this usual or are we just having a bad host? This is our first and only host (we've had this since 2003) so we don't have any hosts to compare with.

I'd say you have a poor host.

Um, almost never. :) In ~6 years I've had maybe 1 hour total combined of unscheduled downtime.

Bad host would be my view.

Nothing runs 100%, but downtime every week is poor.

Only when I was moving to a new server.but that was my fault because I did it wrong :)

Once a year ususally its my fault though :)

Mine used to be down 24/7 (ok slight exaggeration), then I switched hosts and all is well. I can also recommend switching if you are unhappy.

Ok thanks for replies. :) As I expected, this isn't so usual..

My forum only goes down when i mess things up, I have my own hosting so i try to keep things as smooth as i can, if not for me then for my clients :)

Used to be quite often for me, everyday, but now, I am improving things all the time, and upgrading severs as I need to, so the site has been going down a lot less these last few weeks.
