how do I add reputation back into the postbit?

I would really like to add the reputation display (the bar with the green boxes) back into the post bit and add two buttons (one to give reputation, and one to remove it).

Any idea on how to do this and which templates to modify?

You want the postbit and postbit_legacy templates.

If they have been edited, save a copy of your edits and then re-apply them to a REVERTED copy of the templates. The REVERT will give you back any lost functionality and then you can edit your changes back in from the saved old copy.
