3 letter searching ?

hi, my board is using v3.6.4

even though the "Search Index Minimum Word Length" is set to search for 3-lettered words it always says none found.

setting is under vBulletin Options / Message Searching Options

do i need to update the counters or something?

thanks for reading this.

Internal Searching: Did you rebuild the Search Index after making the change?

FullText Searching: You may need to edit your mySQL configuration to include 3 letter words, then rebuild your FullText indexes.

i just tried rebuilding it and still the same result.

i guess it is on the MySQL side of it.

tnx for ur reply.

Same isssue here.

Min letter count is set at three.
Rebuilt the search index.
Search still does not return 3 letter words, such as particular usernames or terms.

Does anybody know how to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

For most boards, anything lower than 3 would be taxing on the server.

I'm aware that it could be taxing for the server, but I believe common words can be filtered out by editing one of the search function php files. Furthermore, my board isn't that big and the server is dedicated. The load as it is is not that high.

I would rather be able to try it out and see if our server can handle it or not, so if anybody knows the solution...Our forums are 3D related, and loads of terms exist of three letter words.

If your forum is using fulltext searching, then the minimum count must be changed at the server level.

It is possible to add search terms which can be used regardless of their length, in the AdminCP. Specifically: vBulletin Options -> Message Searching Options -> Words to be Included Despite Char. Limit

We are using vbulletin's standard search system. How would you go about changing the limitation using vb's system?
