Hack proof?
I've changed the admin and mod cp's to be a pretty difficult folder name. but what else dhould I do to hack proof the forum folder of my site/directory ect?!?!
|
Use .htaccess password protection on the AdminCP and ModCP.
|
Would going into my domains cpanel and setting password protection on those 2 folders be sufficient in accomplishing the same result ?
Phil. |
Yes i beleive that pretty much does the task for you.
|
Thanks, I had thought about the .htaccess file but could not figure out where it would go (I presume the intended folder only) but then I could not figure out what should be in this .htaccess file.
So this will be just as secure then ? Phil. |
Yes, it'll be the same after i checked it out.
|
Your absolutely correct. After I refreshed my views in FileZilla there were new .htaccess files in both the admincp and modcp folders. Thanks :)
Phil. Curious do you know if the file upgrade.php should be deleted from the install folder ? Something says yes to me but the instructions in the downloaded vbulletin package only say to delete the install.php file ? I'm sorry, if this should be posted elsewhere perhaps a mod can move it. I do not want to hijack this thread. Phil. |
No, it's safe to leave there. They'd need your Customer Number to do anything with those files.
|
Thank you and have a great evening.

I'm glad someone figured it out, but I can't find a waqy to put a password protect on those folders using godaddy.com hosting. Can anyone help or help me do a step by step to add .htaccess to these folders
