Regrading Skin

I am just wondering if i edit the default vbulletin skin with the hack and addons i need. And then get a custom skin, Will i have to make all the necessary template changes again to the new skin.? Or is there a way in which i can just simple change skins.

Thanks in advanced.

Nope, template edits are style specific. Whatever changes you do to one skin, you'll have to do to the other if you'd like them on both. The only exception to this is if you've got Styles on your board like vBulletin.org does -- all the styles are just CSS and Image variations, so they're all Child Styles of one Parent Style; in this case, you only need to edit the Parent Style and the Child Styles will all receive the changes as well.

So if i edit the vbskin and add my custom one as a child style will the changes be made to the custom skin.?

Only if your Child Style is the same as your Parent Style -- with the exception of CSS Changes or Image Changes.

Example: Take the Default vBulletin, this would be the Parent Style. Then you have a second copy of the Default vBulletin, called Red vBulletin - which is a Child Style of Default vBulletin. Red vBulletin is identical to Default vBulletin, except it's got CSS Changes which have changed its color from default to red -- hence the name.

If I edit the Navbar template on Default vBulletin, the changes will carry over to Red vBulletin, because Red vBulletin uses the same templates as Default vBulletin.

Hope that makes sense.

Yes it does thanks. I will wait until i have my custom skin before i add anything.

Where can I find some new CSS Changes or Image Changes to add to my forum? I'd like to provide color options... But that's all. Not whole different board options. Mainly so I don't have to add all the changes I've done to the new style.
thanks!
