Can't get a blasted cookie to unset

This is really starting to tick me off.

I've tried vbsetcookie('cookiename') with no parameters - reading the code that SHOULD work -- it doesn't.
I've tried explicitly setting it to 0. Won't work.
Tried setting explictly to ''. I can't change the value of the thing.
ARGH...

I know the plugins where the unset gets called (login_process and logout_process) are functioning cause I stuck an echo statement in them and got it to crash.
