Which route? VPS/ Dedicated server?
Hi
We currently have 700-800 members logging daily, about 250 online concurrently, DB is around 350 mb. Looking to move off our shared hosting as it can't cope during peak period, not too sure on going VPS / Dedicated server route. Please explain on how you calculate what the requirement is for hosting, how do you know how much memory etc..? If it's a dedicated server what's the recommended spec to look for allowing for steady growth? Thanks |
i'd just go with a middle of the line dedicated server to avoid more possible trouble in the short term future.
check out softlayer.com for there opteron CPUs |
^^^ what he said... just go dedicated. At the size you are currently on, day's not far that you will have to move to dedicated (if you get a VPS right now)

If you are planning for a VPS, I would recommend you Servint for sure.
