Too many connections...
 

I run a small board. Vital stats:

Version: 3.5.4

Mods: Just a few Paul M ones.

FlashChat Integration 2.60
Integration of Flashchat and vBulletin 3.5
Members who are using flashchat 4.15
Members who have visited the forum 4.19
Miserable Users 2.05
New reputation comments and posts 3.02
Reported post creates new thread 2.01

Stats:

Most users ever online was 82
Threads: 888, Posts: 7,780, Members: 440, Active Members: 216



I get a few "too many connections" now and again. I have had 24 since the 17th Dec 06 so far.

I asked my reseller host to up the max connections, they said: "For a shared environment and 90 max connections at once that is a large amount of MySQL connections. If you're not using persistant connections that should be more than enough."

Persistant connections are off: $config['MasterServer']['usepconnect'] = 0;

Basically:

1. Is that really in line with my board stats? Is my board the biggest that can be held on a standard shared reseller account?

2. Is 90 reasonably enough? Is there a problem with my board?

3. If I want my board to continue reasonably, do I need to move upto VPS/dedicated servers? Or there any rough guidelines about what servers i'll need to host which size boards anywhere?
