Email + Hack Update Prob

g'day all,

I was just wondering if i am the only one experiencing email probs in regards to when hacks are updated.

I just noticed that Paul M has updated a number of his hacks that I have marked as installed, but have received no email notification of the fact.

Is there a problem with this service or does it no longer work.

Thanks.

Not every author will send an update email for every update they make. It is often only done on a big update, or if there is a security patch.

oh ok, i thought it was an automatic thing when the author updates, the email is sent.

Well you learn something new every day :)

Nope, it's manual.

I generally only send updates if the changes are important, otherwise I would be flooding many members with e-mails.

Is there a way to stop getting email updates of new updates of the hacks, as it gets very annoying.

Not at the moment.

smsmasters could click 'uninstalled' to stop receiving updates, hm?

You could, but that's not recommended.

Alternatively, you could just read them (to make sure they are not important updates about security) and then delete them. :)

In the near future there will be a few extra options available via the usercp - one will allow you to opt out of regular update e-mails (unless staff send them), another will allow you to opt into a weekly e-mail that will list new releases for the last week as well as any mods you have installed that have been updated in the last week.

There will also be a setting to opt out of a reminder PM that will be sent a few days after you download a new modification (i.e. a mod you have downloaded but never marked as installed). The PM will basically be a once only reminder to click install if you are using the mod.

Yeah, that's what I do. It was just an idea, since he finds them "annoying." I appreciate the e-mails...:)
