log in problem !

I am completly unsure if I should post it here.

I want to know how do I see on a non VB page (but in Joomla) if I am logged in and stayed logged in. I have created on a non vb page a login. I can log in. When I log in there and it is correct than I see the succes message that you always see if you log into the forum. But than it brings me right back at the non vb page and am not logged in. How do you do this on Earth ?

So on a non vb page in php I made a log in. I can submit my username and pasword. I hit the log in button. Than the message appears that I was succesfull in loggin in (like you see on the forum) but than I end up on the non vb page and am not logged in. I want to stay logged in.
