Instant Forum Notification

Please I would like you to install this hack https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=98822

allowing us to get notification instantly!

I'm sure we can add this to the list of things to consider, however, that is not a promise it will ever happen.

A couple of quick points spring to mind ;

We would need to consider the extra strain this would put on the e-mail servers.

It was written for vB 3.5.0, and some posts seem to indicate it doesn't work on vB 3.6.x.

Ziki 12-13-2006 05:13 PM

I'm sure you can port it ;)

I would like this too ... also so I can see how I could implement it for my own site which is running on vBulletin 4.

Marco van Herwaarden 05-11-2010 04:41 AM

This is unlikely to happen, also note that this is a 4 year old thread.

(And this is not the place to request modifications for your own forum)

Fail. After 4 years, unlikely this will work.

Well seeing that someone once made a "mod" for this ... it surely can be implemented into the base program. More likely the vBulletin development team is "unwilling" ... not "incapable". Otherwise we'd see it.

vbenhancer 05-11-2010 03:25 PM

it is not capability... it is related to hosting... instant notification is very extensive on any server... you can still hire a coder to put it on your site... it's a 3 lines edit...

vilhiem 05-11-2010 03:47 PM

any idea what those "three lines" are so I can add them ...? :-)

Brandon Sheley 05-11-2010 06:05 PM

am I missing something, don't we have instant email notification in the default install of vbulletin?
I get an email from my forum the second or shortly after someone has replied to a thread I'm subscribed to.
