forum permissions question
 

Hi guys - I apologize if this has already been addressed. I have done a search and haven't found quite the same information.

I need to know how to set forum permissions such that a given usergroup may not view the forum (as in see the link) but if they do a search, threads within the forum will be found.

I have played with the forum permissions but it seems that as soon as the group cannot view the forum, they can't get any information out of it at all

Using the forum permissions and forum manager this wouldn't be possible. It may however be possible with a modification of some description.

any ideas guys? i am fairly comfortable with code/template modification, i just don't know where to start with this one
