Put new members in a specific usergroup?
This is probably a stupid question but for some reason I can't figure it out.
All my new members as soon as they confirm their email they are placed in the "Registered Users" user group. I want them to placed in a "new member" user group that I created that is set so I can moderate the first couple posts and then transfer them to the non-moderated user group "Registered Users" . OK so in short how do I get the user as soon as they sign in to be placed in my "new member" user group instead of the Registered Users group. I know this has to be easy but for some reason I have gone braindead! Just in case my forum address is http://www.letstalkaboutdisney.com/LTADForum/ |
cant remember the sepcific details, but it should be
usergoups>promotions then i think the default should be users awaiting email confirmation to registered users. If you edit that and select the target usergroup as new members that should do it. you'll then need to add a new promotion to move the new users to registered users. Hope that helps :D |

Thanks for the help . |
Just moderate your registered members and once they're worthy promote them to something like "senior members" / etc..

I guess that would work too. Didn't think of that. Thanks. Will try that.

Here is another solution you can try...rename "Register Users" into the one you wish for new ones to be as...than make a new usergroup (which is the promotion)so you don't have to mod new users.
Example: "Register Users" is now "Newbie" and than when they meet a certain requirement..it will put them as "Register Users" later on |
Thanks thats basically what I did. I really did something stupid. I have been trying this for days with no luck so I would delete all my work and put everthing like it was. Then I remembered I had to update my Scheduled Task's. for everything to work and move everyone to their right user groups which I haven't done yet and I was reverting everything back before it could automatically do it. So I did the usergroup changes and ran the scheduled tasks and everyone was put where I wanted them to be. Thanks for all your help and now I know the first place to go to ask questions. :D |
