Creating a unique ID for advertisements?

I'm hoping someone can help with the following.

We currently have a PHPBB type board and we're planning to move it across to VB but the one thing I'm not sure on is how to add our advertising banner in the way we need.

It needs to go into the forums header which should be simple enough but the problem is that each time the ad is displayed it requires a unique ID in the clickthrough url.

How I do this currently is to have a uniqueid.php file that contains the following:

PHP Code:

<?php

function uniqueID()
        {

$uniqueID=rand(pow(10,7), (pow(10,8))-1);
        return
$uniqueID;
        }
?>

Then in the header.html template file for my phpbb theme I have:

PHP Code:

global $uniqueID;
         {
            echo
code for advertisement using $uniqueID in url

Does anyone have any idea how I'd transfer this across to vBulletin?

It needs to be in the header at the top of every forum page and I'm not sure if I can just put the above code into the template files and if so which template(s) to edit and where.

I should add that the advertising code is in javascript.

I've possibly got this working but I want to confirm what I've done is right.

I used this: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...18#post1066718

And added the following as a plugin:

PHP Code:

ob_start();
   include(
'path/to/this/file/myfile.php');

$includedphp ob_get_contents();
ob_end_clean();

Then I created the myfile.php file and added the following into it:

PHP Code:

<?php
        $UniqueID
=rand(pow(10,7), (pow(10,8))-1);

echo
"<script language=\"javascript\"><!--\n"
."document.write('<scr'+'ipt language=\"javascript1.1\" src=\"http://adserver.adtech.de/addyn|3.0|512|1042473|0|1|ADTECH;loc=100;target=_blank;key=key1+key2+key3+key4;grp=$UniqueID;misc='+new Date().getTime()+'\"></scri'+'pt>');\n"

."//-->\n"

."</script>";

?>

I then added $includedphp to my header template and it all seems to be working right.

Can anyone see a problem with how I've done this?
