alt text for picture uploads?

Is there a way to have alt text for pictures uploaded to vbulletin using the attachment upload feature? As of right now, the alt text is blank for every picture and I see this as a waste, not to mention blind users can't read the picture info.

Thanks

In Admin Control Panel (ACP):

-Search Templates "postbit_attachmentimage"
-Edit / Customize "postbit_attachmentimage"

Replace all with:
Code:

<img class="attach" src="attachment.php?$session[sessionurl]attachmentid=$attachment[attachmentid]&amp;stc=1&amp;d=$attachment[dateline]" border="0" alt="$attachment[filename] - views: $attachment[counter] - size: $attachment[filesize] - id: $attachment[attachmentid]" />&nbsp;
Then you have at least the base infos for pictures in "Attached Images".
For including an alt tag that can be specified by a user, you have to add at
first a custom field into your db in table "attachment" (not recommended).

So, the "alt tag" will be the file name of the picture uploaded?

Then, you have to edit the database tabele "attachment"

Are you saying this hack is NOT recommended?

Thanks

Does anyone else see this as a problem? All those pictures on a forum and none of them have alt tags?

Hello,

You could simply just add the alt"" with empty entries. If you were just looking to make it xhtml compliant anyways. You could even just give all image attachments the name of your site. Example:

Code:

<img class="attach" src="attachment.php?$session[sessionurl]attachmentid=$attachment[attachmentid]&amp;stc=1&amp;d=$attachment[dateline]" border="0" alt="YOUR_SITE_NAME_HERE - views: $attachment[counter] - size: $attachment[filesize] - id: $attachment[attachmentid]" />&nbsp;
