Theme Site
 

Hi all,

Just wanted to touch base with you as to what I am doing.

Over the last few years I must have used just about every forum and portal/cms script that is out there (think i must have been a woman in a previous life as I Keep changing my mind about which to use) and every time I change I seem to spend an age finding a theme for my new script as I would only have theme sites for my current forum script saved in my favs. These days I find myself using ipb/vb/evo and of course phpbb on various sites that I have, and I have noticed that im not the only one to have use multi formats, so I had a branwave to create a theme site that catered for all formats, as far as I am aware there is no other site that does this.

So I am about to embark on what will be a huge project ( I must be mad) and create a site that will have themes/skins for just about any format that you care to mention, these will be both free and premium themes. I am sure there was a reason to this post but I seem to have got side tracked, oh yes thats right... if you know of any theme/skin artists that would like to have there work featured on the site please send them my way! (skins@skin-planet.org)

So what do you think? good idea or should I be locked up?!

I'd like to risk not sounding like an ass by making a serious post here, so excuse me if it comes out alright.

Make a couple of feeder skins first. Some that you may think, "Hey, not bad. If this one is free, I want to see at least what his paid ones are like!" Some take a look at the premium skins and thinks, "Yeah, I like that one, it's worth the 30-40 bucks" and then it snowballs from there. The good part about your concept is that you're not limited to vBulletin; you could post this exact same thread at Joomla, phpNuke, SMF, phpBB, everywhere.

Thanks nice to get some good feedback from a fellow brit, however your slightly off with the concept as you stated "make a couple of feeder skins" This will not be a site that makes skins but features skins from all sites off of the net. I would have no idea on how to make a skin!! besides im about as artistic as a wet fart.

But your right the main concept is that folks will be able to get skins for all of there portals/forums and galleries. Also this idea is that this site would increase exposure for premium skin makers (I already have a few interested)
