Comma seperator on Who's Online

I want to change the comma seperator between user names on the Whos Online block to something else. Where would I change this so that say I could use a - or a * between user names?

A "*" is already used for invisible users.

There is no way to do this other than by editing the activeusers code in index.php

I am digging this up again, when you remove the comma, the first person logged in breaks, or at least their hyperlink breaks, while the rest appear fine. Why is this?

it will be because of this which follows straight after it

        $activeusers = substr($activeusers, 2); // get rid of initial comma

You can probably comment out that line to get rid of the initial comma though I have not tested it.
